The Public Health Department, a strategic partner of the Center for Asthma in the Workplace, hosted the meeting of CAW partners and researchers held on November 20, 2008.
We would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Louise De Guire for her invaluable assistance in organizing the meeting. Dr. Malo presented the budget for the next (and final) competition, urging members to recruit students and discuss potential project applications with other members. He also invited members to explore new associations with new researchers. Participants discussed prospects for 2010 and what avenues have been explored for funding the Center. In September, Dr. Malo and Sylvie Daigle met with Ms Marie Larue and Mr Paul-Émile Boileau of the IRSST and representatives from the FRSQ to discuss support from 2010 on.
A meeting is also planned with Nancy Edwards, Scientific Director of the new Institute of Population and Public Health, to evaluate the possibility of extended funding for the Centers of Excellence program.
Students presented progress reports on their projects, followed by a most enjoyable exchange of views. Dr. Malo thanked members for attending the meeting and concluded by inviting everyone to the next meeting, which will take place in April 2009.
