Meeting of partners and researchers, November 29, 2007

Submitted by Asthma_Workplace on Mon, 2008-02-04 15:46

The fall meeting of members of the Asthma in the Workplace Center was held at theInstitut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et sécurité du travail (IRSST), our scientific partner, on November29. Our thanks to Ms. Gaudet, the president, and her team – and special thanks to Nicole Goyer and Yves Cloutier for the warm welcome.

Dr. Malo made a presentation to members on our new communications tool – the “C’est dans l’air” newsletter, which will be published three times a year. We hope that it will promote exchanges and communication between members and raise theCenter’s profile.

Dr. Malo announced that the next competition, to be launched in early January, would have the same budget. Members are encouraged to recruit students and hold discussions with other members on possible project applications. He invited members to explore new associations with our three new researchers.

He also reminded members that they could form associations to get funding for a project with another center funded by the Institute of Population Health, the Léa-Roback research centerheaded by Louise Potvin.>

Members of the Occupational and Environmental Medical Association of Canada (http://www.oemac.org/) invited us to present our training sessionbefore their meeting, which was held in Banff on October 14. We would like to thank Dr. Catherine Lemière for her excellent contribution as a speaker.

The pedagogical content of the on-line training project is now up on our Web site. Since this is still a working version, only the administrators and designers have access to the platform. We hope to make the training available inSeptember of 2008.

Students and fellows who received funding from the Center for 2007-2008 presented their projects and took questions and comments from the researchers and partners inattendance. Members were very impressed with the progress of all the students’ projects, and congratulated them on their work.

In closing, Dr. Malo invited members to submit their publications, research findings, and any announcements they would like to have appear in the upcoming edition of the C’est dans l’air newsletter.
